With heartfelt remembrance, we announce the passing of Ernesto "Ernie" Ngayan on January 15, 2025. Born on November 29, 1948, in Kahuku, Hawaii, to German and Victoria Ngayan, he was the eldest of six children. A proud graduate of Kahuku High School, Ernie excelled in sports and formed lifelong friendships.
Ernie served honorably in the U.S. Navy, stationed on the USS Yorktown CVS-10, and participated in the Apollo 8 capsule recovery. He later built a career at Ford Aerospace and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, where he was highly respected.
In 1976, he married Mary Elizabeth Wyrick, and together they raised four children. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Ernie found joy in his family, cooking, sharing his love for sports, riding horses, and craftsmanship.
He is survived by his wife Mary; children Nicole, Rachelle, Elizabeth, and Derek; grandchildren Braden, Ashlyn, Benjamin, Natalie and Clara; and siblings Bonnie, Larry, Cora, Diana and Marlene. His legacy of love, kindness, and service will endure. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Viewing 10:00 AM, Funeral Service 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 674 South Yorba Street, Orange, California 92869.
